AIMS

For 2007– 2011 the Institute plans to:

  1. organize five international academic conferences, which will summarize research carried out by employees and partners of the Institute. The conferences will serve as forums where eminent international researchers and experts in economic and transatlantic relations will be able to exchange their views on the latest American research.
    The planned conference topics are:
    A) The Transatlantic Migration of Europeans with a Specific Focus on the Polish Experience. Professor Krystyna Iglicka-Okólska from the  Centre for  Demography and  Migrations and Professor Andrzej Sulima Kamiński from the Institute of Civic Space and Public Policy at Lazarski School will co- organize  the conference, which takes place on June 4, 2009;
    B) Volatility of the Currency Market – Polish and Global Tendencies. The conference is planned for September 2009. It will be co-organized by Dr. Bogna Gawrońska-Nowak;
    C) Why is the US University System Better than the European; Which Elements of this System Can be Adopted by Europe and Poland? ( preliminary  topic). The conference  is  co-organized by Fulbright Fundation  and  will  be  held  on January 11-12, 2010;
    D) Do International Politics Still Revolve around Relations between the US and the EU? (preliminary topic);
    E) Which Law is Better for Business: Anglo-Saxon or Continental-European? Why?
  2. prepare English-language reports of conference proceedings for publication in prestigious international journals and publish conference proceedings in Polish.
  3. organize international seminars and lectures by eminent specialists in different fields (see Current Events for details on events organized to date).
  4. establish a library, dedicated to the research topics of the Institute. Currently, the library is in the process of acquiring books.
  5. create a network of contacts, in Poland and abroad, among institutions and experts with activities and interests similar to those of the Institute.
  6. launch graduate and doctoral seminars dedicated to the US economy and transatlantic relations.
  7. set up a database , which   is  essential  for organizing the Institute’s activities.
